Philippe & MICHEL Naddef

Philippe & Michel Naddef

A Burgundy family estate bridging tradition and modern craft

Philippe Naddef founded the estate in 1983 after three years at Domaine de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny, building a robust winemaking foundation. True to classic methods, he champions natural grape expression and wines built to age.

Michel Naddef joined in 2008 and has led red-winemaking since 2014. With stints at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé and Domaine Bertagna, he introduced a modern touch: whole-bunch fermentation, shorter cold soaks, and calibrated new-oak use to heighten fruit purity and freshness.

Winemaking Philosophy & Style

Every winery carries its own philosophy—shaped by terroir, tradition, and the winemaker’s vision. These values influence every step, from vineyard practices to cellar decisions, ultimately crafting wines that express both place and purpose. Below is an overview of this estate’s guiding principles and stylistic identity.

STEP 01

A Philosophy of Natural Balance

The estate practices sustainable viticulture. Though not certified organic, it firmly avoids the use of herbicides and chemical fertilizers, emphasizing manual vineyard work and ecological balance to maintain vineyard health.

STEP 02

Precise Vinification & Selective Fermentation

All grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted on site. The wines are fermented with native yeasts, and the percentage of new oak is adjusted according to the cuvée level—around 20% for village wines, and as low as 10% for premier and grand crus. Some wines undergo whole-cluster fermentation, adding freshness and structural complexity.

STEP 03

Pure Style with Terroir Expression

These wines are known for their pure fruit aromas, balanced structure, and strong sense of place. While approachable in youth, they also offer excellent aging potential.
